Ms Jaala Hinchcliffe, Integrity Commissioner

Jaala Hinchcliffe

Jaala Hinchcliffe was appointed as the Integrity Commissioner and agency head for the Australian Law Enforcement Integrity Commission on 10 February 2020. Prior to that appointment, she was the Deputy Commonwealth Ombudsman and held a number of senior executive roles at Parliament House with the Department of Parliamentary Services and the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. Prior to her senior executive roles, Ms Hinchcliffe had an extensive career as a lawyer specialising in Commonwealth criminal law with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

Ms Hinchcliffe has held several board positions and is a member of Australian Institute of Company Directors. She was a board member of the National Executive of the Australian Institute for Administrative Law (AIAL) from 2018-2021. She is the current Chair of the Women in Law Enforcement Strategy (WILES) mentoring program, an initiative of the Commonwealth Justice and Law Enforcement Forum.

Ms Hinchcliffe has a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University. She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the ACT, the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.

Petra Gartmann

Ms Petra Gartmann is the Deputy Integrity Commissioner. Ms Gartmann works closely with the Integrity Commissioner to provide independent assurance to government about the integrity of Australian Government law enforcement agencies and their staff. As a member of the strategic leadership team, the Deputy Integrity Commissioner has responsibility for overseeing both the operational and corporate functions of ACLEI.

David Swan Profile Pitcure

Mr David Swan is the Executive Director Corporate Services and Governance. Mr Swan manages the agency’s finance, property, security, ICT, governance, people and culture, communications, corruption prevention and legal and policy advice functions.

Peter Ratcliffe

Mr Pete Ratcliffe is the Executive Director Operations (Southern). Mr Ratcliffe manages investigations and operational activity in the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. He also manages the Strategic Intelligence and Data Analysis and Operations Coordination and Collection team and ACLEI’s relationships with ACIC, DAFF, AUSTRAC, APRA and ACCC.
