You must be an Australian citizen to be eligible to apply for all vacancies with ACLEI.

Pre-employment screening and security clearances

Before an offer of Australian Public Service (APS) employment is made, as part of our pre-employment checks you will need to:

  • provide 100 points of identification documentation to verify your identity and confirm Australian citizenship
  • undergo an Australian Federal Police National Police Check
  • complete a security and integrity questionnaire and in some cases additional suitability processes dependent on the role you have applied for

All ACLEI positions require a security clearance. The level of clearance required may be different for each role advertised.  If you do not hold a valid security clearance you will need to undergo a security clearance by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA). Information on the security clearance process is available on the AGSVA website.

Formal qualification

We will ask you to provide evidence of your qualification for positions requiring formal qualifications.

Probation

All new ongoing engagements to the APS are subject to a 6-month probation period, during which we help you understand what is required of you in your new role, assess your suitability to work in the APS and set you up for success in your new role.

Redundancy

Former staff of the Australian Public Service (APS) or the Australian Parliamentary Service who received a redundancy benefit are limited in their subsequent APS employment for a restricted period. The circumstances where the restrictions apply are set out in section 66 of the Australian Public Service Commissioner's Directions 2022.

Our recruitment process

Our advertised recruitment processes involve 3 stages:

3. Offer

Application

The Selection Documentation for each position, available on the Current Vacancies page, will provide you with details about what you need to include in your application and the closing date.

All applications must be submitted via ACLEI’s Online Recruitment System. The application process requires you to register and complete an application form online and submit a resume.

If you do not progress to interview stage, you will be notified by email. Should you progress to interview stage, we will contact you to arrange an interview.

Selection

The selection process can include:

  • an interview with a selection panel (usually made up of 2-3 panel members)

Offer

If you are the preferred candidate, we will make you a conditional offer of employment. The offer will be conditional on you satisfactorily completing ACLEI’s pre-employment screening process.

If you proceed through this process, we will make you a formal offer, including a proposed salary and commencement date and provide information about your employment conditions and other relevant employment and security documentation.

If your application is unsuccessful we will notify you by email once the recruitment process has been finalised.
