Operation Dreadnought considered an allegation that an officer of the Australian Border Force (ABF), Mr George Filewood, engaged in corrupt conduct by disclosing official information to assist a drug importation syndicate avoid detection by the ABF. The Integrity Commissioner found that Mr Filewood did disclose official information which assisted the drug syndicate import a commercial quantity of a border controlled precursor into Australia. In recognition of this, a corruption finding has been made against him. The investigation led to Mr Filewood pleading guilty to one charge of abuse of public office pursuant to s 142.2 of the Criminal Code 1995 (Cth). On 19 August 2020, My Filewood was sentenced to six months imprisonment which was suspended upon him entering into a good behaviour order for nine months.
