Operation Venari was a joint investigation by ACLEI and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) into an allegation that classified AFP information had been released to a person of interest in an aggravated robbery. The investigation found that an AFP staff member, Ms Thorn, had improperly accessed the AFP case management system and disclosed AFP information to her sister, Ms Forrest. The investigation also found that Ms Forrest disclosed this information to an associate, solicited further AFP information from Ms Thorn and monitored the AFP case management system for an improper purpose. The investigation did not establish that information had been provided to a person of interest in an aggravated robbery. The Integrity Commissioner found that both Ms Thorn and Ms Forrest engaged in corrupt conduct.
