Operation Wilson: Australian Border Force employee convicted of corruption offences as part of ACLEI investigation
An ACLEI-led investigation, Operation Wilson, has resulted in the sentencing of an individual currently employed with the Australian Border Force (ABF) for corruption offences.
At the Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday (21 November), Jonah Hsu was convicted of unauthorised access to sensitive information and sentenced to a $4000 fine.
Operation Wilson was investigated jointly with Department of Home Affairs and Victoria Police.
Ms Jaala Hinchcliffe, the Integrity Commissioner and head of ACLEI welcomed the court’s decision. Ms Hinchcliffe said, “This is a reminder of the importance of acting with integrity, particularly when it comes to accessing the sensitive information which is held by Commonwealth agencies.”
Operation Wilson commenced in May 2021.
