Recruitment Privacy Policy

ACLEI recognises and respects your privacy and is committed to the Information Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988. When you apply for a position, or commence employment with ACLEI, you are asked to supply information to ACLEI to enable processing of your employment and to maintain ongoing employment related functions.  By proceeding with your application, you are providing your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described below.

How your information will be collected

We collect information from you directly when you submit your application. We may also collect information from you at other stages during the selection process, including at any competency, medical or other test, or interview during the selection process; and from third parties you have consented to such as your referees. We may also collect information from third parties as required by or allowed by law.

How we will use your information

Your information will be used during the selection process to fill the advertised vacancy and in some cases to create merit pools to fill similar positions to that which was advertised. Your contact details will be held on ACLEI’s online recruiting system for ease of use in the future.

For successful applicants, information from the selection process may be used to provide reasonable adjustments in the workplace and for ongoing employment related functions.

ACLEI will disclose your information only as required by or allowed by law.

Who your information will be used by

Your information will be used by members of the selection panel responsible for assessing your application; the delegate (the manager who has overall authority to approve selection decisions); and the staff of human resources who manage and administer the induction of employees.

Your information will also be used by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency, (AGSVA) the Australian government agency responsible for granting of security clearances, associated agencies such as the Australian Federal Police, and any other agency or person with a lawful entitlement to use your information.

If you are successful in a Gazetted recruitment process your name and some of your information will appear in the Public Service Gazette. 

We may also disclose your information to staff of an external provider if they have been engaged to manage or assist with the process. In such circumstances confidentiality and privacy obligations will apply to the third parties.

Accessing or correcting personal information

You have a right to access your personal information, subject to some limited exceptions prescribed by law. Reasonable costs may be charged to you to provide such access.

When dealing with ACLEI please provide us with complete and accurate information and inform us if you believe your information is inaccurate or incomplete.
